To mitigate the extreme consequences of hunger, uncertainty and anxiety during the Covid-19 crisis and related lock down, Gowravam Foundation has been reaching out to the migrant labourers and their families living in shelter homes, slums/settlements and labour camps by providing relief material.
Gowravam Foundation distributed clothing and hygiene material to 1373 migrant labour, homeless people, beggars housed in 9 shelter homes by GHMC and NGOs in Hyderabad and Secunderabad region.
To promote preventive measures against corona virus among the poor people, Gowravam Foundation distributed 2050 Masks in different localities.
In view of the extended lock down period by the Government, Gowravam Foundation provided Grocery Bags to over 2140 migrant labour families at an estimated cost of Rs.1,000 per bag, per family thereby covering about 10,000 men, women and children.

These migrant labour families were from Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, UP, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, Assam and Nepal.
Besides, there were daily wage labour from Telangana & Andhra Pradesh, Transgenders, Persons with Disability and Leprosy recovered poor people too who were also given the Grocery Bags.
Distribution of Grocery Bags was done at 73 locations covering 4 districts Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Sanga Reddy & Medak- Malkajgiri.
Due to the extended lockdown, the livelihood of the migrant workers came to a grinding halt and meagre savings ran out fast. They decided to return to their villages. The key highways filled with men, women and children, carrying their belongings, trying to walk home, sometimes hundreds of miles away not minding the scorching May summer.
Gowravam Foundation rushed to their aid by distributing Journey Food Packs to over 40,742 people on highway points as they exited the city. Our aim was to see that no one who comes our way goes hungry.
Gowaravam Foundation tied up with Akshaya Patra & Heartfulness Institute for supply of Roti/Rice packets. These were included along with the Journey Food Packs that Gowravam Foundation distributed to the migrant workers.
